Installing the IMI-1000 retrofit CarPlay and Android Auto kit into your Mercedes W212 E Class with NTG4.7
Here we have a brief overview of an installation of our IMI-1000 into a W212 2014 E Class, the basic installation steps also apply to any NTG4.5/NTG4.7 vehicle. A more detailed manual is provided when you purchase the IMI-1000.

IMI-1000 NTG4.5/NTG4.7 kit STEP 1 : REMOVE DASH VENT TRIM
Open the glovebox and release the two metal tabs
Release the two catches inside the dash vent and pull the entry vent trim off.
Place dash trim in a safe place, be careful not to break the LED light pipe that runs along the underneath of the trim piece along the top of the glovebox STEP 2 : REMOVE HEAD UNIT
remove the two T20 torx screws which hold the head unit securing tabs. The thread length is VERY long on these, so if the head unit doesn’t release, keep unscrewing them!
When the head unit releases, pull it forward slightly and unclip the connector shown above.
Once the head unit is pulled out of the cavity, remove the display connector (grey) and insert the IMI-1000 connector labelled “LVDS-IN” STEP 4 : CONNECT IMI-1000 HARNESS
Remove the main 48 pin “Quadlock” from the head unit. There is a release tab on the bottom side.
IMPORTANT! You must remove the “MOST BUS” fibre optic line from the Mercedes 48 pin connector, if you don’t you will see a “DAB unavailable” message when you reassemble the vehicle and you will not have any audio. Release the catch(1) and then pull out the MOST connector(2).
Remove the most connector and also remove some of the Mercedes loom tape so that it frees up some slack on the cable. This MOST connector will be now plugged into the IMI-1000 48 pin Quadlock connector.
With the MOST connector transferred to the IMI-1000 Quadlock, plug it into the back of the head unit. The original Mercedes Quadlock (above) is then plugged into the IMI-1000 female Quadlock connector. Make sure you mate them well, do not rely on the clasp to pull the two connectors together, push the bodies together firmly with your fingers. STEP 4 : REMOVE GLOVEBOX
The glovebox is secured by around 8 T20 torx screws, 3 above and 5 on the bottom, work your way around the glovebox removing the T20 screws.
STEP 5 : PULL WIRING THROUGH INTO GLOVEBOX AREA AND CONNECT IMI-1000
Working from inside the cavity where the head unit was removed, feed the IMI-1000 wiring through and into the glovebox area shown by the red arrow above.
Install the IMI-1000 behind the carpet, the system will utilise the original Mercedes microphone so there is no need to install an aftermarket mic. HERE IS THE RESULT!
